Types[edit]

DC Fast Charging, or DCFC, standards include CCS, Chademo (mostly used by Nissan and in Japan), and Tesla (Tesla VIN and proprietary signalling required)

Energica motorcycles use CCS, which comes in two variants.

CCS Type 1 are J1772 aka Type 1 plus two additional pins that are activated by appropriate signalling, and is used in North America.

CCS Type 2 are Mennekes aka Type 2 plus two additional pins that are activated by appropriate signalling, and is used in Europe.

Charging Rates[edit]

CCS stations are rated in kW, but are generally limited by amps, so will only reach the rated kW when battery is at the station maximum voltage, which may be 500-1000 V, so it may be necessary to find a station rated 2X or 3X the rated kW to actually acheive the 26kW that Energica can achieve.
